Ricci was the youngest of four children born to Sarah Murdoch and Ralph Ricci in Santa Monica, California. Her mother worked as a Ford Agency model in the 1960s before becoming an estate agent. Her father was lawyer, as well as an obnoxious-scream therapist. Ricci declared that she believes her Italian family heritage is a consequence from her name. Five or six generations ago, an Italian couple married a Irish woman. The couple were blessed with children. The Irish married more women and they had more kids. Ricci's family moved out of Italy and moved to Montclair, New Jersey. Ricci went to Montclair High School. She also attended Professional Children's School, New York City.
