Luciana Paluzzi
Actress Luciana Paluzzi was one of several sexy Italian brunettes who were destined for global fame following the success of the tragic Gina Lollobrigida. In the 1950s, Ms. Paluzzi worked on both sides of the Atlantic for films like Three Coins in the Fountain and Sea Fury. She was then given the chance to become an American TV star in the character of Simone Genet in the 1959 spy-weekly Five Fingers. She met the Bond producers to be considered to play the role of lead Domino Derval's role in Thunderball. Terence Young gave her Fiona Volpe as one of a few women who can hold off Mr. Bond's attraction. Fiona Volpe is murdered in the midst of a dance floor by Bond's own friends, perhaps to punish her for her deeds. James then places her deceased body in front of a table, and then asks "Do you feel that it is okay if my partner stays with me at home?" That's not the fault of Fiona. This box-office blockbuster enabled Luciana Paluzzi to extend her European star career to the '70s in both the US as well as Europe and with movies that included Captain Nemo And The Underwater City (1969), The Six Million Dollar Man (1973), The Klansman (1974) and The Greek Tycoon
